We are delighted to welcome visitors at one of our public events as listed on our What’s On page. We also welcome groups of 10 people or more for a garden visit by appointment. Friends of Turn End can book an appointment for a self-guided visit to the garden, throughout the year.

Travelling by car & parking

Turn End is located 3 miles north east of Thame and 5 miles south west of Aylesbury.  Turn off the A418 to Haddenham. In the village centre, turn off Thame road at the Rising Sun pub into Townside. Turn End is located opposite a road called Dovecote, behind a low white wall, under a large walnut tree and with a gravel entrance.

Turn End was created as a family home, as such there is no visitor parking at the house or garden. We are located in the historic centre of Haddenham village and there is free, but limited, on street parking on surrounding roads. Please park with consideration for our neighbours, parking on wider areas of road and avoiding driveways.

If possible, please park at a distance and enjoy walking through the village to visit us. Please download a village map here to find your way to us.

Travelling by coach

If travelling by coach, we recommend that you approach via the wider roads of Thame Road - Marriotts Lane - Dovecote and disembark on Dovecote, if possible. As we are located on a narrow residential road, parking for large vehicles is limited in the vicinity, so coaches may wish to drop off guests and park elsewhere during your visit.

Travelling by Train

We are a 10-15 minute walk from Haddenham & Thame rail station.

Travelling by Bus

Route 280 Aylesbury-Oxford bus passes through the village centre. We are a few minutes' walk from the bus stop opposite the Rising Sun pub (from Oxford) or opposite the House of Spice restaurant (from Aylesbury).

Visiting Information

If you are coming to an event in the house, we ask that visitors please either remove footwear or wear the plastic shoe covers we provide.

A small selection of plants and books are available for purchase at many of our events and during group visits. We can accept payment by cash or cheque for these purchases.

There is one unisex toilet on site, accessed via two steps. Dogs are welcome in the garden (not in the house) on a lead.

Please note that the neighbouring houses of The Turn and Middle Turn are privately occupied and are not open to visit.

Access

The garden includes gravel and stone pathways, lawns, narrow archways and several steps, including steps to the photography studio and toilet.

The house is compact and includes one step at the entrance and 3 steps to an upper level.

There is one visitor toilet on site, accessed via two steps.

We hope to make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any questions about accessing the site please contact us to see how we can help.
